Well it's all over
for 2008 - but such was the enthusiasm, we're seriously considering staging
another run in 2009 instead of 2010! Over the coming week,
lots of photos will be going up, as well as an event report.
Well done to all the
teams, and a special thank you to Speedy Hire for their sterling support! You can post your message using the 'add a message' button above.

The countdown clock is precise to the very second - look again! (It even accounts for the clock going back at 2am Sunday morning) However since you've stated your intention to provide a new watch, a beer and a 2008 calendar, I'll accept it publicly and with all good grace at the awards on Monday night. It's great to see things back up and running for this year, and it seems to be getting as much interest as the last three, which is fantastic! Sadly, we have tried our best to get funding for this year's event but to no avail (and we've sold our black cab) so we're going to have to bow out gracefully for this year anyway - which is pretty disappointing as it's been such a blast every year. Steve - if there's any way we can help along the run, please please get us involved, be it marshalling or whatever - the route usually goes somewhere near our neck of the woods so we'd be very happy to help!! EMAIL wrightfullminiteam@yahoo.co.uk MESSAGE: Well, now that that's all sorted(never any doubt), let's start the ball rolling with guessing what vehicle Woodbutcher & Leaky will appear in. (Anyone who went to the Bromley Pageant is barred, unless you can convince the boys to part with beer) So, is it: Military, Emergency, HGV, Light commercial, van, limo, sports, small, 3 wheels,or just a bog standard car? As it is so far away from the Mini they drove last time, I'm going for Military. So that's the first £10 in the pot. Who's next? MESSAGE TIMED AT 12:09 on 07 August 08

EMAIL info@lighthouserun.net MESSAGE: THE RUN IS GOING AHEAD! There were many concerns raised some weeks ago relating mainly to fuel costs and the possibility of blocades etc - and this caused a few teams to pull out. There were some particularly lurid and, in my view irresponsible, newspaper articles painting a picture of rationing, the country being brought to a standstill and even petrol riots - so the reaction was perfectly understandable. However, the pumps did not run dry, Armageddon did not descend and whilst we're no doubt all a little miffed at Browns refusal to shift on petrol duty and continue to provide EC firms with a huge competitive advantage, things are pretty much as normal. We carry on, paying through the nose as usual! We need to have at least 10 teams to make the event work, and I'm now pretty sure we're going to exceed that number - due in no small part to the unwavering support of Woodbutcher and Leaky and of George and Jim, to name but four! All systems go! Steve MESSAGE TIMED AT 10:26 on 02 August 08

EMAIL Nope, spam filter would go nuts MESSAGE: Hi All, Ok, new guy here doing this for the first time, will be running my old 1984 3.5 V8 Land Rover (cunningly converted to LPG so can afford to run it - just!) I've got the go ahead from my firm (McNicholas Construction – aka Green Macs – www.mcnicholas.co.uk) who'll be helping to ‘settle’ the mechanics and giving me a nice new temporary paint job as a place to put their advertising / sponsorship, no doubt with their logo & name all over the place. Looking forward to getting some more details so I can start bothering people with begging letters! Best wishes Bill MESSAGE TIMED AT 15:13 on 08 July 08

MESSAGE: Well here we are again, took the wheels to Bromley Pageant of Motoring on the 15th June to see how she was on a run, fuel consumtion was pretty good but it was cheaper to get a taxi back home saving hard to do the return journey!!!! Only joking. The Writeful mini's idea sounds great only trouble is I,ve known Leaky for some 22 years and Woodbutcher for 55 years and to get a drink out of either could be a bit of a struggle. Well done George with selling so many of the model minis I,ve also had a good selling period. Any of the 2006 teams that had some to sell how are you doing with them as not much money has come through. Be on again soon with more details later David. MESSAGE TIMED AT 15:18 on 29 June 08

EMAIL wrightfullminiteam@yahoo.co.uk MESSAGE: hi folks Is there anyone else apart from us and Woodbutcher & Leaky? If there is, and with the shyness of W & L, we had in mind another money raising scheme for the LHC. How about running a book on what type of vehicle Woodbutcher & Leaky will turn up in? If ayone out there is willing to have a bid, We'll put forward a list of possible vehicles, and for £10 a go, you can have a bet. The winner will get a drink at Lands End from W & L, the ultimate winner is the Lighthouse Club. Anyone game? MESSAGE TIMED AT 20:57 on 05 June 08

EMAIL info@lighthouserun.net MESSAGE: Great to see things are starting to warm up! The guys at Construction News have very generously offered us free advertising space again this year to promote the event, and they may even get a team together (a not-so-subtle hint there for Gary and the guys!). It's going ot be interesting to see what our stalwarts 'Woodbutcher and Leaky' are going to come up with this year - never a dull moment! Speedy Hire, who put the finish line rig together for us at Land's End, are entering two teams with Steve Corcoran and A.N.Other, plus Neil Kelty and 'co-pilot' - to be announced. Peking to Paris TV celeb and all-round heroine Pam will be there with her new husband Andrew, also a veteran of last year's PtoP rally. All in all, things are shaping up really well!
