TYRONE CRYSTAL TO SPONSOR THE TROPHIES
Crystal has been made in County Tyrone since 1771, and today they are the only company whose range consists entirely of true Irish crystal. We're delighted to report that the trophies for this year are being provided by Tyrone to support the event, so this year's trophy winners will be receiving what is arguably some of the finest crystal in the world.
They'll be in good company: pictured right is Lewis Hamilton receiving his Tyron Crystal Trophy after the 2007 Canadian Grand Prix.
The trophies will be presented by Mark Everett, the Chairman of the Lighthouse Club who'll be down at the finish along with some enthusiastic members of the Club to welcome the runners as they cross the line!

Nick Johnson, editor of Plant Hire Executive, devoted his 'Executive Viewpoint' editorial entirely to the Lighthouse Run in the September issue.
Nick writes "remember that there is always someone worse off than yourself. In thje construction industry, there are always a considerable number of people needing help because of illness, accidents and bereavement. So the work of the industry charity, the Lighthouse Club, remains as important as ever."

We couldn't have put it better ourselves!

BILL SETS UP AT THE LAND ROVER SHOW
An impressive effort from Bill Bircham who set up at the recent Land Rover Show at the East of England Show Ground in Peterborough over the weekend of the 13th & 14th of September. It's a huge show and there are a lot of calls on people's generosity, yet he managed to raise a total of £206 for the Benevolent Fund, as well as generating a lot of interest in the Club and the Run itself.

REMEMBER PAM & ANGELA FROM 2006?
PEKING TO PARIS ON TRAVEL CHANNEL

Teamsters from the 2006 event will remember Pamela Reid, who entered the run as Team Enersol with team mate Angela Ohren-Bird, as part of their preparation for the great Peking to Paris Rally in 2007.
Well - not only did Pamela go on to compete the rally in her 1960 Sunbeam Rapier with navigator Nicola Wainwright, but she came 12 overall (out of 131 teams) and also took the Ladies' Trophy!
The rally is currently being televised by the Travel Channel, and Pam and Nicola are one of the featured teams. The programme is aired at 9pm on Sunday evenings, with repeats later in the week, including a last repeat at 12noon on Sundays.

ENERSOL TO OFFSET LIGHTHOUSE RUN CARBON 'TYREPRINT'
Let's face it - whilst the Lighthouse Run is a great craic and a charitable event, it also entails a number of vehicles driving from one end of the UK to the other - and that means CO2 emissions. With that in mind, Enersol (who also sponsor this web site) have pledged to offset the event's emissions, including those arising from getting to JO'G and from Land's End, through specialist offset company Carbon Clear. They will have details of all the teams' round trips and engine capacities, frm which they can calculate each vehicles emissions. This will then be matched with an emissions reduction project to ensure that the emissions are cancelled out or 'offset'.

FOURTH LIGHTHOUSE RUN ANNOUNCED
The fourth Lighthouse Run from John O'Groats to Land's End is going ahead in October 2008. Previous events took place in 2004, 2005 and 2006, with the 2007 event being dropped because of work pressures on the organisers.
However - the 2008 event is now set up and ready to go!
Going forward, the event will be held every two years. The pressures of organising it annually are simply too great, and both teams and the organisers feel that a bigger, better bi-annual event will be preferable to a smaller annual run in terms of the vent itself, and most importantly, its fundraising potential.
